We are loving the NEW renovation show “Country Home Rescue with Shaynna Blaze”.
Shaynna’s dream project is to transform a 130-year-old country house into her family’s forever home and she wants daughter Carly and son Jess to chip in and build the dream together.
We love seeing all the nitty, gritty behind the scenes process of a challenging project and of course the room reveals!

First up: The Laundry

.
.
“Storage Queen” Shaynna Blaze has worked magic on the laundry at her Sutherland House project and ensured that the space is both beautiful and functional.
.
When it comes to designing a laundry the first stop is storage!
Shaynna has included a substantial linen cupboard and a full height cupboard to store brooms, mops and all the other bits and pieces that can clutter up wall space in a laundry.
.
Making the most of vertical storage is key in compact spaces and Shaynna has also included a floating shelf for storage with a hanging rail for drying and functional LED lighting.
.
With functionality taken care of, the laundry’s style is an elegant palette of simple materials with some subtle nods to the Federation and Victorian styles of the main house.  Engineered oak flooring with underfloor heating (a must in the country), farmhouse style cabinetry and ‘organic style’ tiles are paired with a mix of soft brass and matte black details to compliment the adjoining powder room, kitchen and butler’s pantry.

Bedrooms fit for a princess or two

.
.
The bedrooms at Sutherland house are a testament to Shaynna’s design skills and ability to personalize the space for an individual.
Carly’s bedroom is a stunning example of how to blend multiple styles and influences to create a tranquil bedroom.
A neutral palette of the walls, pitched ceiling, wardrobes, flooring and lamps balances the 70’s aesthetic of earthy tones and florals inspired by Carly’s favourite Portuguese vase to create a serene light filled space for the ‘resident princess’!
.
But there is more than one princess in this family home…
.
.
Shaynna's first grandchild Olive also has her very own bedroom at Sutherland House which is also designed to be multi-functional bedroom for other overnight guests when Olive is at home in the city.
The white and neutral colour palette and double/single/trundle bunk ensemble create a dual purpose for the space. Whilst simple in its design, Shaynna has layered textures and finishes such as soft-linen’ coloured looped-pile carpet, snuggly bedding, abundance of cushions, and beautiful brushed gold wardrobe handles to help to warm the space without making it overtly cutesy.
.
.
.
Both bedrooms feature custom wardrobes designed for maximum functionality – a combination of short and long hanging spaces with functional LED lighting, drawer storage space and for Carly a Pivot Slide Mirror.

Luxe lighting inspiration

.
We are so inspired by Shaynna’s creative approach to such a challenging project and love how subtle lighting has been incorporated into all the rooms to take the design to a whole new level of luxe.
LED lighting adds a beautiful ambience to any space, as it can be cleverly incorporated into the joinery design and cast a warm glow into recessed spaces.  It can also add functional task lighting to areas such as work surfaces in the laundry or storage spaces in wardrobes.
 .
 .
LED lighting can also be used with a range of switching options to suit each application.
.
  • Wardrobes - A Touchless Modular Switch can be cleverly hidden inside the wardrobe joinery and activates the light only when the door is opened – saving energy and adding light just when you need it.
  • Laundry – functional LED lighting under overhead cabinets is ideal for illuminating the bench space. Pair the lighting with a dedicated wall switch and turn the light on and off as you need.
